Green Mamba in a car!!

While on a break down in Durban, a good friend of mine referred my number to someone nearby who had seen a large green snake go underneath his car.

On arrival, the owner of the car had already opened up the bonnet and spotted the snake. We could just see the head, it was a beautiful Green Mamba!

It was on top of the gearbox, in an extremely tricky place to get to. It was rather nerve-racking crawling under the car and seeing the mamba a bit too close for comfort, with it's mo...uth open! After encouraging it out towards the bonnet with my hook stick, I crawled out from under the car and went to see if I could get him by the engine. I managed to get a hold of his body with the snake tongs, and safely secured the head, after an hour long ordeal of trying to get him out!

All in all it was a lot of fun and a first for me, what a great day! And what a gorgeous snake! Absolutely stunning!
